Fall in Augusta: Wine Country Weekends, Weddings & Wineries!

There’s something special about fall in Augusta. The vineyards begin changing color, the days become a little cooler, and some of my favorite events of the year give you plenty of reasons to spend a weekend in Missouri Wine Country.

If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to plan a getaway, this is it! September kicks off a wonderful stretch of fall activities, winery events, live music, seasonal food and beautiful days for simply exploring Augusta.

We’ve already put together a guide to some of the fun happening around Augusta this fall, and there’s plenty more on the way.

But there are a few things I especially want to put on your radar — including one of my favorite September traditions, a new resource for anyone coming to Augusta for a wedding, and a brand-new guide designed to help you explore our wonderful local wineries.

🍷 Swingin’ in the Vines: One of Augusta’s Must-Experience Fall Events

Friday, September 18

If you’ve never experienced Swingin’ in the Vines, this might be the year to change that.

It’s one of those events that captures so much of what makes Augusta special: beautiful vineyards, local wine, great food, live music and an evening spent enjoying the countryside with people you love.

The evening begins with check-in at the Augusta Harmonie Verein before guests head out by wagon into the vineyards. Your experience includes a gourmet picnic basket for two, a bottle of wine, a special port tasting and live music from Sweetie and the Toothaches. Bring along your camping chairs, find a comfortable spot and settle in for a beautiful September evening in Wine Country.

The wagons run from 5:30–8:30 PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the vineyards as the sun begins to set and the evening settles over Augusta.

This isn’t simply another wine tasting. It’s an opportunity to get out into the vineyards and experience Augusta in a way you don’t get to every weekend.

Make It a Wine Country Weekend

Swingin’ in the Vines is certainly worth the trip on its own, but why hurry home afterward?

Stay for the weekend and spend the next day visiting wineries, exploring Augusta, enjoying local food or simply relaxing at the H.S. Clay House. Fall weekends here are meant to be enjoyed slowly.

And if Swingin’ in the Vines sounds like something your entire friend group would love, consider making an event out of it and renting the entire H.S. Clay House.

A whole-house stay gives everyone a place to gather before and after the festivities while still having the comfort of their own rooms. I can also help make group stays a little more special with customized experiences and add-ons, including wine tastings, food experiences, scavenger hunts, themed activities and other fun options tailored to your group.

Grab your favorite people, come enjoy the vineyards and make a whole weekend out of it!

💍 Coming to Augusta for a Wedding? Stay for the Weekend!

Augusta and the surrounding Missouri Wine Country are beautiful places to get married, and each year we welcome guests who are here to celebrate weddings at vineyards, wineries and other venues throughout the area.

That got me thinking: planning where everyone stays should be part of planning the wedding weekend, too.

We’ve created a new wedding resource specifically for couples, families and guests attending weddings in and around Augusta.

The H.S. Clay House can be a wonderful home base whether you’re a couple attending a wedding, parents of the bride or groom, members of the bridal party, or simply a group of friends coming into town to celebrate together.

Instead of everyone scattering to different accommodations, you can spend more of the weekend together.

Enjoy breakfast in the morning, gather before heading to the ceremony, come home and talk about the evening afterward, and turn a single wedding celebration into an entire weekend in Wine Country.

🏡 Bring the Wedding Group and Rent the Whole House

For bridal parties, families and groups of friends, renting the entire H.S. Clay House can make the experience even more memorable.

You’ll have the inn to yourselves, creating a comfortable gathering place for the people closest to you throughout the weekend. And depending on what your group has in mind, I can help arrange special activities, food options and experiences to add another layer of fun to your stay.

It can be especially nice when family and friends are traveling from different places. Rather than simply meeting at the wedding, everyone gets a chance to reconnect and spend some real time together.

💕 And Yes, We Can Host Smaller Celebrations Too

While we aren’t trying to compete with Augusta’s larger wedding venues, the H.S. Clay House can also be a wonderful setting for smaller, more intimate weddings and celebrations.

If you’re dreaming about something personal, charming and surrounded by the character of historic Augusta, I’d be happy to talk with you about what may be possible.

We’ve put together a new guide with information about staying in Augusta for a wedding, local venues, planning a wedding weekend and celebrating with the people who matter most.

🍇 Discover the Wineries & Vineyards Around Augusta

Of course, you don’t need a special event or wedding invitation to find a reason to visit Augusta.

Sometimes the best reason is simply the wine!

We’re incredibly fortunate to have so many wineries and vineyards within an easy drive of the H.S. Clay House, and no two offer exactly the same experience.

Maybe you’re looking for a beautiful view and a bottle of wine on a sunny afternoon. Perhaps live music is at the top of your list. You might want a winery where you can settle in for lunch or dinner, discover something new during a tasting, or build an entire day around visiting several vineyards.

That’s why we’ve created a new Augusta Wineries & Vineyards Guide to help you decide where to go.

The guide covers favorites throughout Augusta and the surrounding Missouri Wine Country, including places like Augusta Winery, Mount Pleasant Estates, Montelle Winery, Balducci Vineyards, Noboleis Vineyards, Defiance Ridge Vineyards, Chandler Hill Vineyards and more.

Rather than simply giving you a list of names, we want this to be a resource you can actually use to plan your trip — helping you find the wineries that best match the kind of Wine Country experience you’re looking for.

And, of course, when you’re staying with me, I’m always happy to offer suggestions too. Tell me what kind of day you have in mind, and I’ll gladly point you in the right direction.

🍂 Make This Fall Your Excuse to Visit Augusta

Whether you come for Swingin’ in the Vines, travel to Augusta for a wedding, or simply decide it’s time for a few days of wineries, good food and beautiful fall scenery, there’s no better excuse to spend some time in Missouri Wine Country.

Come as a couple for a relaxing getaway, gather a few friends for a wine weekend, or bring everyone along and rent the whole H.S. Clay House for an experience you can enjoy together.

There are so many wonderful things happening as we move into fall, and I’d love to help you make the most of your time here.

Come experience fall in Augusta, stay awhile, and make some memories with us. I hope I’ll see you soon!
